  How can I stop hating the JW religion?

  having this spiritual division between my wife and i over the years has been very draining in many ways.

  so much so that i find myself more and more hating everything having to do with the wtbts especially when i just see watchtower literature.

  i've kind of always felt that way but it's getting worst.

  I am exactly in the same position as you are. I am celebrating my 19 anniversary tomorrow. Life was OK until I found TTATT. Then, things went down hill. Now my main objective is to prepare my children for getting out of the cult as soon as possible. Not easy, those bastards of the FDS ensalve their minds really well. It's unbelievable but the cultic control does happen. I don't think I can be of much help to you because I am as enraged and sometime out of control as you are. The only good from this so far is that I am resolved to get as many people out as it is possible, or prevent some from getting in. So far no tangible results, but I am planting seeds of doubt everywhere.

  i have been out for 22 years.i was raised as a jehovahs witness.

  i was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion.

  theres a whole lot to the reasons why i left, but i left.

  I am speechless. You want to go back!! Spend few months in this blog. Read few books about the WT (Crisis of Conscience, Gentile Time Reconsidered, Apocalypse Delayed, and many more). Read relevant publications of the WT since 1879. In other words: GET THE WHOLE PICTURE of the religion. You have to do a lot of homework.

  Take the study and challenge the person giving it with ideas you may get from the forum. But please, please, do your homework thoroughly. I have serious doubt you know half of what you need to know to make such a huge decision

  Pursuing legal means to eliminate shunning is the wrong path. That is the way to totalitarianism. Shunning falls in the area of morality and desirable conduct, not of criminality. Denouncing it as we do in a free forum is the proper way, but asking the judicial system to intervene is asking for the Stalins to rule in a Democracy (sorry for the oxymoron)

  My story so far

  i've been trying to avoid posting this, due to extreme paranoia but its time to post my story.

  i hope to not post too many details, as we've avoided being df so far, our group elder was young and lovely and cool and i just hope that in time he learns the ttatt.. i'm a regular lurker on here, occasional poster (i can't post much as my phone browser only lets me read but not post, so i only post on the odd occasion i get a time alone on the pc).

  i have been fading since round about last september ( so almost my first anniversary of learning ttatt).

  I don't know if I could call myself an atheist, but I am certain that I am a humanist. I got great faith in human intelligence, resilience and capacity for compasion. Your son lives in a time when we have accomplished great things in many fields, especially the medical field. Great doctors and the right medical procedures will go much further than all the prayers of the in-laws. Spend more time involved with doctors than with the in-laws. Best for you and your family, especially your son.

  Quite interesting,

  I may have actually run into this pervert before. I need pictures. Sun Valley is just 6 miles from where I live. In fact, I likely know people who attend that congregation. As a friend of apostates, I doubt that I could get much info from anyone, but I will try to get more details. That kingdom hall is actually a double kingdom hall and most congregations, if not all, are Hispanic. I attended those halls 18 years ago when I was trying to steal, actually took away, one of the most coveted marriageable JW girls, now my wife. Two brothers-in-law and a nephew-in-law serve as elders in those congregations. They, the brothers in law, refused to attend their sister's wedding with me. Today my children, fathered by a pagan, are exemplary young people, while their children, born and raised in the truth by elder fathers...well, are not exemplary by any stretch of the imagination.

  Also, a friend (maybe he does not consider me a friend anymore, after I challenged him to prove vat 4956 fits the Watchtower chronology better than the conventional secular chronology) serves as an elder too.

  From the get-go, Meyer's credential expose him as a bias source for solving the Creation/evolution debate. R. Dawkins would also be a partial source. Also, since you and I are no experts in this discussion, deferring to the experts who are not involved in the debate would be the best way to go. What percentage of evolutionary biologists, genetecists, geologists, paleontologists and other experts in relevant fields do you think would support either of the two mutually exclusive position? Pro-creationists (according to Genesis)?? Pro-evolution (as explained in the most recent scientific research)??

  Jesus never started his ministry untill he was 30 years of age ! What should that tell us ?

  while this always bothered me ,i still wanted my 2 boys to be baptised as soon as practical so they would survive the big a or else get a resurrection into the new system of things.thats how indoctrinated i was.both my boys were baptised in their early to mid teens.neither have ever been disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves ,however both have nothing to do with the religion today.

  (thankfully ) .

  how many family lives have been ruined because children/minors have been baptised at a young age and in the majority of cases have committed trivial offences against watchtower policys/rules .sometimes with tragic consequences .. teenagers have a difficult enough time as it is dealing with changes to their bodies and coping with new emotions as they transform from boys to manhood and from girls to womanhood .. here in australia you cant get a car license and drive on your own till your 18 yrs old ,vote at elections , or drink alcohol at a pub.and many people will argue,that is too young to start doing those things as they are not mature enough .. yet the wtb&ts / jehovahs witnesses put life and death matters in the hands of minors / children ,as regards the use of blood and blood products ,fractions of blood ,what is currently acceptible ,and what is not.. an adult witness would find it hard to keep up with what is current and what is not current in the ever changing policy regarding the blood issue ,let alone a minor/teen who is expected to make a life or death decision at a critical time.. a teenager /minor does not have that capacity to make such an enormous decision about life or death ,when the wtb&ts acknowledge they often fail to make right decisions in trivial matters ,hence the disfellowshipping of thousands for trivial rules imposed by the governing body ,man made rules at that .no birthday celebrations,no smoking,no associating with a disfellowshipped baptised witness,no questioning what the governing body has said,accepting a blood transfusion,formerly a disfellowshipping offence , now stated ,you disassociated yourself from jehovahs witness teachings so you disfellowshipped yourself .

  It means that he was having a good time for a while. It also menas that even wise people sometimes err. He could have avoided death and continue having a good time. But noooo, He wanted to play the martyr. To his credit, he started a religion that has had more influence than anything else in the history of western civilization, for better or worse. Some time ago I thought it was for the better. I am not so sure anymore.
